Excellence in Service Profile: Jose Peralta

Safelite’s Excellence in Service program recognizes employees when they are complimented for customer service. Winners earn points to purchase online merchandise. Here is the latest profile of one of our Excellence in Service honorees: Jose Peralta.


Recently, a female named Tracy contacted Safelite to share her story: One of our technicians from Morton Grove, Ill., Jose Peralta, was nearby working on a neighbor’s car when he noticed a man across the street crawling along the ground.

Jose knew that something was wrong, so he stopped what he was doing and went over to the man to see if he needed help.

“I was about half way through the process of the installation when I noticed he was struggling,” said Jose. “I immediately ran to him and began to question him, asking him if he was okay, checking his coherence.”

The man was elderly, had fallen and couldn’t breathe. Jose ran back to his van, called 911 and stayed with the man until the ambulance arrived.

“Although it wasn’t my car that Jose was working on, I wanted to let Safelite know that what Jose did was admirable,” Tracy said. “He did not have to get involved, but chose to do the right thing and if he hadn’t have called 911, who knows what the outcome could have been.”

The man was hospitalized for three days and is now home and recovering well.

This story is yet another example of how our people – and their caring nature – make a difference.
