Safelite in the Service Spotlight: George Ireland

Natalie Crede, Senior Vice President of People & Leadership Development

I’m proud that Safelite AutoGlass has launched a new Safelite in the Service series, highlighting our employees who have or are currently serving in the military. We are so grateful for their contributions to our country… and to our customers.

Today’s spotlight is:

George Ireland, Quality Manager, Mobile, Ala.

Years at Safelite: 16

Branch: U.S. Air Force

Years of service: 24

Locations: Texas | Oklahoma | Kansas | Germany | South Korea | Maryland | Alabama

Growing up in a military family, George saw how much his father enjoyed the military and wanted to continue the tradition.

“I entered the U.S. Air Force three days after I turned 18,” George said.

Throughout his 24 years, George was stationed in various locations and developed a strong interest in law enforcement. After 10 years of service, George became a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Even post-retirement, George worked for the Department of Public Safety in Alabama before joining Safelite in 1999.

“I learned how to use my head and think my way through situations,” he said. “Mostly, I learned how to quickly ‘read’ a person and discover what motivates them, which I can use to turn a disgruntled customer into a satisfied customer of Safelite.”

George uses the same knowledge and skillset to train technicians with the most important core value to him: integrity.

He has held multiple positions at Safelite over the course of his 16 years here - from Repair Medic to Quality Manager.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” he said. “I’ve been treated very well here and wouldn’t work for anyone else, even if I was offered three times what I currently make.”

George, I’d like to personally thank you for your service!
